Thanksgiving Break, Final Exam, Etc.

November 15, 2017 Administrative Comments Off on Thanksgiving Break, Final Exam, Etc. Posted By: Cathy Trout

Thanksgiving Break is November 22, 23 and 24, and final exams are the week of December 11. Students should not plan to leave campus early for travel purposes. Our policy states that unless it is a family emergency, students are expected to attend classes the week prior to the break and faculty are required to meet all of their regularly scheduled classes. There are no “excused” absences (illness, funerals, athletic contests, and other necessary absences are included in the total number of absences counted). As a reminder, here is the class attendance policy, and below that, a link to the final exam schedule.

CLASS ATTENDANCE REMINDER: Students are expected to be punctual and regular in class attendance and to accept responsibility for all assigned work. Any student who has been absent for as many as one-third of the total class sessions for a course will have failed and will be suspended from the course. Within this framework, each instructor may set his/her own class attendance policy, and will inform students of this policy at the beginning of the term. Class sessions missed because of illness or late registration will be counted as absences. There are no “excused” absences (illness, funerals, athletic contests, and other necessary absences are included in the total number of absences counted). In case of extenuating circumstances, a suspended student may petition the Academic Concerns Committee to be readmitted to the class. At the discretion of the faculty member, missed work may be “made up.”

FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE: may be found at https://www.huntington.edu/uploads/page/Final_Exam_Schedule.pdf

Travel plans are not a basis for petitioning for a schedule change. Faculty are under no obligation to honor requests from students to accommodate travel plans.

Golf Cart Taxi Service

November 13, 2017 Administrative Comments Off on Golf Cart Taxi Service

Walking across campus in the fall can get pretty chilly. Want a free taxi ride? On Thursday, November 16, we can make that happen!

On November 16, Huntington University is hosting its first annual Day of Giving. But on that day, HU isn’t asking students to give money. Instead, we are asking Foresters to say “thank you!” All you need to do to get a free golf card ride across campus is to post on social media sharing a reason why you are a #ThankfulForester!

But wait, there’s more! Want to make that taxi ride a bit cozier? We also are offering free hot chocolate to students who, once again, post on social media sharing a reason why you are thankful for HU using #ThankfulForester!
