Orientation Parking

August 21, 2017 General Comments Off on Orientation Parking Posted By: Susanne Watson

Well over 200 new students will be descending on campus on Thursday, August 24. In hopes of making move-in as smooth as possible we are asking the following folks to park in designated lots around campus on Thursday only:

Returning Students: PLEX
Incoming New Students/Families: MCA, DC, Lower Livingston, and Residence Halls (for unloading)
Faculty/Staff: Becker, Library, LBH, PLEX, Science Hall lots, or the small lot behind the MCA (by the dumpster)

Please also refrain from street parking on Campus Street (across from Hardy and Wright) as this road gets a lot of traffic on move-in day! Thanks for your cooperation to make move-in day a great experience for our new students! 🙂

Shakespeare at Pendleton T-Shirt Sale

June 1, 2017 General Comments Off on Shakespeare at Pendleton T-Shirt Sale Posted By: Jack Heller

Students,
I am doing a t-shirt sale as a fundraiser for Shakespeare at Pendleton. There are two designs, both created by one of our participants.
White on a black t-shirt is the Dogberry emblem, with the dog, rifles, and horn. This image is centered on the front of the shirt, with the Shakespeare at Pendleton logo on the back.
Our Midsummer image is a donkey’s head on the left chest in front, the Shakespeare at Pendleton logo on back, and the shirt color is forest green.
For either design, I’m asking $15 for youth sizes, $20 for adult sizes, add $2 for any size 2XL or larger, and $5 for mailing.
I will have a few shirts used in the show itself, sizes 2XL and 3XL. These I’m willing to let go for $10 (plus $5 mailing if needed). I will launder them before I mail these out. Each participant gets to have one of his two shirts sent home to his family, so I will know how many of each design is available next week.
I am low-tech here, but I can be paid via PayPal; my account is jackheller@hotmail.com. I also welcome cash, check, or money order sent to Jack Heller, English Department, Huntington University, 2303 College Avenue, Huntington, IN 46750. You can send your order to me by email to jackheller@hotmail.com or jheller@huntington.edu, or, perhaps there’s a message box at PayPal.
Let me know the style–Dogberry or Midsummer, the sizes, and, if necessary the addresses for mailing these. Your support of this fundraiser will be appreciated.

Let’s plant some flowers!

May 25, 2017 General Comments Off on Let’s plant some flowers! Posted By: Collin Hobbs & the HU Hort Club

Remember the summer flowers around the fountain last year? It’s time to put this year’s crop in!

Starting at 12:30 this Friday (5/26) the Hort Club & friends will be planting flowers around the fountain in the quad. It’s a big undertaking, with over 400 plants ready to go in. Many hands make light work, and we’d love to see you stop by to help out, even if you only have a few minutes.

All equipment will be provided, but feel free to bring your favorite hand trowel and gloves if you have them.

Camp Lakewood Counselor position opening

May 24, 2017 General Comments Off on Camp Lakewood Counselor position opening Posted By: Martha Smith

We are directing a WOW (Workshop of Wonders), awesome Mini Camp at Camp Lakewood this summer and would like to invite you to join our team!  The camp runs from Sunday, June 18 to Tuesday, June 20 (though counselors would need to arrive on Saturday June 17 by 1:00pm) and is for children entering grades Kindergarten through 2nd grade.

At camp, the children will explore the love of Jesus through Bible teaching, lots of activities and caring relationships.  We need you to love and guide these campers!

Would you be willing to serve as a Counselor or Junior Counselor this summer?  We are looking for people who love the Lord, love younger elementary kids, and love the camp setting.  The minimum age requirement for counselors is 18 years, and 15 years for junior counselors.  We need both!  Attached are some expectations and responsibilities of being a counselor.

If interested, please go to http://impact2818.org/volunteers/registration/index.html and register online.  Also email or call Marlene and let her know of your interest.   If you know of others you think would enjoy counseling, please send their contact information to Marlene, or have them contact her.  We are planning for a full camp of about 75 active kids and need your help to provide adequate staff.

Thank you for your prayerful consideration.  We look forward to working with you or others you may send our way.

Transition in the offices of Student Services and Campus Ministries

May 18, 2017 General Comments Off on Transition in the offices of Student Services and Campus Ministries Posted By: Arthur Wilson

Campus Community,

It’s with mixed emotions that I announce to you that Amber Rensberger, Secretary to Student Services and Campus Ministries, will be leaving Huntington University at the end of the month. Over the past four years, Amber has played an integral role in the success of new student programs, the office of student services and campus ministries. Her service and presence at HU will be greatly missed.

I believe that it’s also fitting for us to celebrate her transition from HU to IWU as she’ll become a coordinator of campus visits. Those of us who’ve had the honor of serving with Amber know that the wildcats are gaining a gem!
