Pants too long? Holes in your clothes? Have a tie that you’re tired of tying and just want a clip on? Come to the Huntington University Costume Shop, and we can fix it for you! APO, the theatre honor society at HU, has decided to do a fundraiser to give something to those who have recently been affected by Hurricane Harvey. We can fix those items of clothing you’ve been too busy to do yourself between September 11th through October 6th, with a minimum donation of $1. Proceeds from the fundraiser go towards Hurricane Harvey Relief.

To take advantage of this opportunity and to donate to a wonderful cause, please come to the HUTC costume shop during open hours, call (260) 359-4273, or email ktenuto@huntington.edu.

The Costume Shop is located in the lower MCA and is open Mondays from 10am-6pm, Wednesdays from 9am-6pm, and Fridays from 9am-5pm. There is a lunch break from 1pm to 2pm on each of those days.

*minor alterations and repairs only; we reserve the right to reject any projects outside of the skill level of our students.

Police Safety Tips

This weeks Police Safety Tip:
Don’t Text and Drive
Texting while driving has become the number one driving distraction in the U.S today. You are 23 times more likely to have a car crash if you are texting while driving. If you take your eyes off the road just for five seconds it can have deadly results for you. The distance covered at 55mph in five seconds is the length of a football field. Don’s Text and Drive!

Stratford Theatre Festival

September 6, 2017 General Comments Off on Stratford Theatre Festival Posted By: Jack Heller

I am planning a trip to the Stratford (Ontario) Theatre Festival to occur during Fall Break. We would leave at 4 p.m. on Friday, October 13th, and you would have an opportunity to see three professional plays and Saturday and Sunday, the 14th and 15th. We would be back in Huntington late in the evening of the 15th.

The cost would be $150 per person for transportation and accommodations (which includes breakfast). You would be responsible for buying your own play tickets (there are fantastic bargains for students, potentially less than $25 for some plays, all of them professional performances), and you would be responsible for other meals and other purchases. You would also need to have a current passport. This opportunity is open to anyone interested and able to attend, up to 12 people.

There are six plays on stage that weekend, two musicals, two Shakespeare plays, a theatrical adaptation, and a comedy of manners:

Musicals:
Guys and Dolls
HMS Pinafore

Shakespeare:
Romeo and Juliet
Twelfth Night

Adaptation:
Treasure Island

Comedy of Manners:
The School for Scandal

If you have an interest in taking this trip over Fall Break, please let me know . . . soon. jheller@huntington.edu
