“The Christians” by Lucas Hnath runs September 21, 22 and 26 at 7:30PM and Sepember 23 at 2:00PM & 7:30PM in Zurcher auditorium. Please encourage your students to attend. Elective chapel credit is being offered for attendance. Join the conversation and further exploration of themes presented in the play at the special Forester Lecture on Thursday, September 28 at 7:00PM. “The Justice of Hell” presented by guest speaker, Dr. James Bruce.

The following students have achieved the highest academic honor on campus of being elected to the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society, and will each be introduced in an Induction Ceremony at 11:11 am on Friday, Sept. 22, in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts. The ceremony will end by 11:50, and elective chapel credit will be given for attending. The students who will be honored are Shelby Deak, Mckenzey Denney, Jonathan Dunston, Claire Harvey, Isaac Hatch, Jonathan Mayer, Katlyn Miller, Sarah Miller, Kaitlyn Oswalt, Jennifer Pearcy, Madeline Richer, Rebekah Rose, Kurtis Siegel, Heidi Tucker, Emily VanderBent, Alex Voeller, and Juliet Wilson.

Between Earth and Sky Art Reception

The “Between Earth and Sky” art exhibition is open for your enjoyment in the Robert E. Wilson Gallery located in the Merillat Centre for the Arts. “Between Earth and Sky” is a sculpture mixed media exhibition of recent works by Merrill Krabill. The exhibition will be open until October 12th. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm. The Department of Art + Design invites you all to the artist reception, which will be on Friday, September 22nd from 6-7:30pm, for a gallery talk with Merrill Krabill.

Student Teaching Orientation Registration Meeting:

If you plan to student teach next academic year (fall 2018 or spring 2019), you must attend the student teacher orientation meeting on Wednesday, September 20, in the upstairs banquet room (C) of the dining commons. Two sessions will be offered – session 1 at 11:30 a.m./ session 2 at 12:15 p.m. Please attend the session that works for your schedule and feel free to bring your lunch upstairs. This is only for those students who have been admitted to the Teacher Education Program with junior or senior status.

Technology Device for Education Students:

All incoming freshmen will be required to have an iPad device by the time they begin their Junior Block courses. For all current sophomores and juniors, we also highly recommend you make this a priority purchase. iPads will be used extensively, not only in the ED 377 Integration of Technology in the Classroom course, but in the other junior methods courses as well. Adam Skiles, Director of Information and Technology Services, has provided the following link where students can purchase the iPads that include our educational discount.
