Considering an On-Campus Job for Spring 2021?

HU students often inquire about work-study eligibility, about on-campus employment opportunities, and about how to navigate the on-campus employment application process at the beginning of each semester.

So, let’s chat a bit about how you can find the right campus job for you this spring 2021.

HOW DO I FIND JOBS ON CAMPUS?

All students who are eligible to work in the United States are eligible to work on campus at HU, regardless of FAFSA filing status or financial need. Student employment positions are available to view online through the Friesen Center website. Check back frequently, as student positions update on a rolling basis. Sometimes a specific position will require you to be work-study eligible, but most on-campus positions do not have this requirement.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Take some time to review the time commitment and any other requirements by viewing the full job description. If you are still interested in that position, follow the application instructions outlined on the job description. Some supervisors prefer you to call or email them directly to declare your interest, while others may want a formal application. The full job description will list the contact person for the position and any application instructions.

SO, WHAT IS WORK-STUDY?

Students with financial need may qualify for work-study eligibility. This means that a portion of your pay will come from the Federal Work Study program and a portion will come from the budget of your on-campus employer. We will take care of making sure our payroll office knows whether you qualify for work-study. If you want to know whether you do qualify, please reach out to us at finaid@huntington.edu. Work-study eligibility does not affect your monthly paycheck in any way.

HOW CAN I USE MY PAYCHECK?

HU pays Foresters directly each month for the hours worked through direct deposit or using a prepaid debit card. No funds are applied to a student’s account directly, and students can choose to use earnings for any personal expenses or can save funds earned for future tuition expenses.

If you would like to use your on-campus income to help cover the cost of the current semester, you will need to set up a payment plan option to make monthly payments on your student account. For more information on payment plan options, visit the Office of Business and Finance website.
