Inauguration Day 2020

In the hit TV show The West Wing, President Josiah Bartlet said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful individuals can change the world.” With that thought in mind and in recognition of the inauguration events taking place this week, we invite all students on campus, faculty, and staff to join us for a time of prayer at 7:45 a.m. We will meet in front of RichLyn Library and surround the flag. Masks and physical distancing are required. If you are unable to join us in person, please take a moment where you are to offer up a prayer.

Then, beginning at 9:30 a.m., the TVs in the HUB and the DC, as well as the TVs in the lobbies of Dowden Science Hall, Loew-Brenn Hall, and the Merillat Center for the Arts, will be airing the inauguration events as they unfold. You are invited to watch as much or as little of the events as you would like. If you watch in common areas, masks and physical distancing are required.

May we, in the words of John F. Kennedy (1957), “recognize that what unites us is greater than what divides us” and come to a place of reconciliation and unity.
