HU senior Sam Vaughn averaged a double double this past week to be tabbed the Crossroads League Women’s Basketball Player of the Week as announced by the league office earlier this afternoon.

In addition to leading the Foresters to a pair of wins on the week, Vaughn (Pendleton Heights HS, Anderson, Ind.) also achieved a significant milestone in her career by scoring her 1,000th point in Wednesday’s 90-51 win over Bethel. She is the 26th player in program history to join the exclusive 1,000-point club.

After posting 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals against the Pilots, Vaughn followed up with 14 points, a career-best 18 rebounds, seven assists and two steals against Mount Vernon on Saturday.

For the week, the 5-7 point guard averaged 14.0 points, 13.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 2.5 steals for Culler and crew.

Vaughn currently sits atop the league in in steals per game (3.2) and offensive rebounds per game (3.7). Among her CL peers, she also ranks 3rd in assists/game (3.7), 4th in overall rebounds/game (8.2) and 10th in scoring (13.5 ppg).

The Foresters are 9-6 on the year, 6-5 in league play for a share of the 4th spot in the CL standings. Huntington travels to Spring Arbor Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off with the Cougars.
