DC Benny Free Storytelling Comedy workshop

Tuesday, May 11, from 8:00 to 9:00 p.m.!
The workshop is being taught by DC Benny, who is one of the most respected storytellers in NYC. His underground comedic story-telling show, Urban Myth, became an New York staple, where performers such as Dave Chappelle, Jim Gaffigan, Kevin Hart, Robert Kelley, and Vic Henley all came to tell their funniest true stories.
Benny’s third appearance on NBC’s “Showtime At The Apollo” has over fourteen million YouTube views, he has multiple stand up specials including Comedy Central Presents and Dry Bar, and he was a top eight finalist on NBC’s “Last Comic Standing.”
Have you ever told a story to a friend, family member or even a stranger that made them laugh out loud? Do you have a story stuck in your head or heart that you want to bring to the stage, but have no idea where to start?

We all have stories, no doubt, but how do we tell them to a room full of people we don’t know?

These are not simply jokes; these are fully formed narratives, with connective tissue between the laughs that take the audience on a journey with the storyteller. These are personal experiences with greater risk and greater payoff. Some of the most memorable comedians in history told stories, and these stories were what made them memorable.

This class is a very simple approach to a very complex art; comedian D.C. Benny will help you mine your life to find your story and equip you with the tools you need to tell it.
