Tech Tip: Contacting the Help Desk

“The hardest part of any important task is getting started on it in the first place.”
Brian Tracy, Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time

As a new semester begins, you may find yourself a little lost, unsure where to go or how to solve a problem. We sometimes hear that our users don’t know where to go for help. IT Services wants to make finding help EASY.

Email help@huntington.edu – When you aren’t sure what to do or who to contact, we will point you in the right direction. We work best on technology issues, but don’t be afraid to ask us anything.

Access the Help Desk on the web at helpdesk.huntington.edu – We’ve curated a knowledgebase of common issues. If you can’t find the answer you are looking for, you can submit a ticket to request more information. Make sure to include an email address or phone number you can be reached at. Note: To access this resource, you need to enter your HU username and password.

Speak to someone by phone – Call (260) 359-4357. To make this easier to remember, our number spells HELP. We’re open 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday to assist you. If you reach our voicemail, it is important that you leave a message. We’ll get back to you as soon as we can. If you call after hours or on the weekend, please note that we will return your call on the next business day.

You’re welcome to stop by our desk in the Science Hall lobby. Even better than hands-on service, we offer support using screen sharing. This means we can work with you on your computer problem from the convenience of your room, office, or pretty much anywhere you can connect to the internet.
