Chapel Sept. 9 – Keirsh Cochran
Keirsh Cochran is a Chief of Police, professor of criminal justice, and dynamic speaker. He was born and raised in central Indiana.
As third-generation law enforcement with a passion for the profession, Keirsh travels the country to speak to community groups, universities, churches, and living rooms full of neighbors about racial reconciliation and policing in America. Keirsh earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism from Huntington University and an MPA (Summa Cum Laude) from Indiana Wesleyan University. He is currently pursuing his PhD in criminal justice leadership from the University of the Cumberlands. Keirsh has received numerous departmental awards for bravery, valor, and life-saving efforts, and was awarded the 2019 Distinguished Young Alumnus award from Huntington University. Keirsh lives in Huntington, Indiana, with his wife, Christie, and daughters, Eve and Nola.
Keirsh believes and lives out the idea that through intentional efforts and criminal justice reform police officers and the white community can bridge racial barriers to meet in unity at the table of brotherhood with their Black neighbors. Keirsh passionately pursues racial reconciliation through Community Oriented Policing Strategies by always taking the time to get out of his car to play a game of basketball or get his baseball glove out of his car for a quick catch with neighborhood kids.
Join us at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday in Zurcher Auditorium for his message “The Trauma of Following Jesus.”
