Read and Write Application Installation Guide

Installing as a Desktop or Tablet App

Navigate to this address: https://www.texthelp.com/products/read-and-write-education/
Scroll down until you see the magenta-colored Try Read&Write button
Select your software platform (Apple, Windows, Android), and the app will begin to download
Continue to step 5 for Windows launch; skip to step 6 for Mac launch
The app will show up in the Start menu on Windows; skip to step 9 for continued directions.
Once the file is downloaded to your Mac, open the Finder application and find the .dmg file and double click to begin the installation
After the installation is complete, you should see the below screen; follow the instructions
Next, open the application and complete the security steps
Once the application is open on your device, sign into the program via the “sign in with Microsoft” button. You will log in with your HU email address and password

Install as a Google Chrome Browser Extension

NOTE: The Chrome Extension has only been tested to be fully functional in Google Docs and Slides. However, it may work on other websites, too.

Scroll down until you see the magenta-colored Try Read&Write button
Select Google Chrome; it will redirect you to the Chrome Web Store to finish installation
Select the Add to Chrome button
Complete the installation prompts; you will see the icon in the toolbar once it has installed successfully
When using for the first time, you will need to complete the Google Chrome security prompts
To finish setup, navigate to Google Docs and open a blank document
Select the purple icon, or first click the button and find the extension in the menu
Click on the dropdown arrow
Click the specified link and select your HU email from the list OR press “sign in with another account” and enter your HU email address and password
Follow the security prompts and begin using the Read and Write extension
To setup the screenshot reader, click on the following button and repeat steps 4-6
Once the extension has been installed you will see the icon in the Chrome toolbar

Now you will be able to use the highlighted button.
