WOMEN’S SOCCER

Just over three minutes into OT, Siena Heights (4-1-1) found the back of the net for the game’s only goal of the day Saturday afternoon at King Stadium to notch the 1-0 win over the HU women’s soccer team.

It was Huntington’s home opener and their third straight outing that went into overtime. After settling for a tie against Cornerstone, the Foresters were handed the loss the last two times as they drop to 2-2-1 on the season.

Lewis’ crew mustered four shots, two on target, while their visitors struck for 14 with all but three on frame. Ireland Aerni posted ten saves in the losing effort.

While it wasn’t the outcome Coach David Lewis was hoping for, overall he was pleased with his team’s performance. “We played well defensively today against a strong Siena Heights team. We generated a few opportunities offensively, but this is an area we need to improve. We offered a much better energy on the field this afternoon.”

Next up is a trip to Lourdes on Tuesday.
