VOLLEYBALL

The #8 Knights of Marian University are ranked one of the best in the nation for good reason as the Forester volleyball team learned firsthand Saturday afternoon inside Marian Arena. MU won in straight sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14. It the 11th time this season Marian has swept an opponent as their record remains perfect at 15-0, 7-0 in league play.

As a team, the Knights hit almost .300 percent, finding Huntington’s holes, to finish with 45 kills to their guests’ 33. Lindsay Ingenito was active in the middle to collect eight kills for HU. Kortney Grimm finished with seven for the Foresters while Tya Bynum put down six.

Morgan Robrock remained a picture of consistency for Herber’s crew by handing out 25 assists to go along with 11 digs and three kills. She shared team-high digs honors with Maddie Boomershine who also posted 11 digs while Mikailah Thompson tallied ten.

“Our tip coverage hurt us tonight,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “We are going to work on that in practice this week that way we don’t allow another team to beat us in the short game.

“We executed our blocking and attacking around Marian’s block today. I thought Morgan Robrock did a great job running the floor, and our middles were offensive weapons for us.”

The loss drops Huntington to 7-9 overall, 2-5 in CL action. It was a tough few days for the Foresters having played two Top 20 team in #16 IWU and #8 Marian as noted by Herber. “This was the toughest weekend of matches we will see all year with playing these two elite teams. I’m eager to see how we learn, apply and grow from this experience heading into a big match against Bethel.”

HU hosts the #22 Pilots on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
