WOMEN’S SOCCER

The HU women’s soccer team opened league play Saturday with a 5-0 loss to #4 Spring Arbor. It was business as usual for Cougars as all six of their wins this fall have been shutouts. Through seven games, SAU has surrendered just one goal for a 6-0-1 record, 1-0-0 record in CL action.

The loss drops Huntington to 3-3-2 on the year, 0-1-0 in league play.

The Foresters played catchup all afternoon having surrendered a goal within the opening few minutes. It was 3-0 by halftime and after the guests scored twice more five minutes into the second period, HU held their guests scoreless the rest of the way.

Spring Arbor owned a 9-0 advantage in corner kicks and kept play mostly in their attacking half to HU keeper Ireland Aerni busy in goal. The rookie finished with 18 saves.

“We were beat by a better team today,” said Coach David Lewis. “We got on our heels early and stayed there.”

Huntington hits the road on Wednesday to take on #RV Taylor at 7:00 p.m.
