MEN’S BASKETBALL
Huntington University senior Caleb Middlesworth and junior Zach Goodline were two of 11 men’s basketball players to be named to the Crossroads League Preseason All-League Team as voted on the by league’s head coaches.
Middlesworth (Oak Hill HS, Marion, Ind.) enters his final campaign with 1,383 career points to rank 28th on the Foresters’ all-time scorers list. The 6-8 forward dumped in 15.6 points per night last season to finish 14th in the league in scoring. He canned 2.5 threes per outing at a clip of 42.6 percent to finish fourth and sixth in the CL respectively.
A transfer from Oakland University, Goodline (Coloma HS, Coloma, Mich.) splashed onto the scene last year to establish himself as one of the most dangerous guards in the league. He led the team in scoring (17.3) and assists (5.0) in addition to posting 4.5 rebounds 1.3 steals per game. His five-assist average proved the third best in the league and earned him the 21st spot across the country.
The Foresters, who went 8-9 in league play last year to finish tied for sixth in the standings, are picked to finish fifth in the Crossroads League this year. Saint Francis is the preseason favorite while Indiana Wesleyan and Marian are picked to finish second and third respectively. Alford and crew kick off the season by hosting Governors State on November 2 at 8:00 p.m.
