WOMEN’S SOCCER

The HU women’s soccer team held #8 Indiana Wesleyan scoreless through the first half before giving up a few quick goals after intermission to eventually suffer a 4-0 loss to their guests Wednesday afternoon at King Stadium.

While the Foresters weren’t able to generate much offense, their defense was especially impressive in the first 45 minutes. The Wildcats fired off 17 shots in the opening period but several great saves by freshman keeper Ireland Aerni coupled up with a backline that did a great job of limiting quality made for a 0-0 deadlock heading into the break.

Unfortunately, halftime gave Wesleyan a chance to regroup, and Jackie Norris took full advantage by ripping back netting twice in the first three minutes of period two to give her team a 2-0 lead that wouldn’t be challenged. The Wildcats would go on to add two more insurance goals before the final buzzer sounded.

Aerni finished with 11 saves on the day. The loss drops Huntington to 3-6-3 on the year, 0-4-1 in league play, while IWU (10-2) remains perfect in CL action at 5-0.

Next up for Lewis and crew is trip to Indianapolis on Saturday to face #6 Marian at 11:00 a.m.
