VOLLEYBALL

The #22 Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan (17-3, 12-3) left  Platt Arena with their ninth straight win of the season Saturday afternoon by blanking the Huntington volleyball team, 25-15, 25-15, 25-16.

IWU is currently tied with Taylor for second place in the Crossroads League standings, three games behind undefeated Marian who holds the top spot, while the Foresters are sharing a piece of eighth place with Grace.

Wesleyan boasts an economical offense and today was no different as the guests posted a .296 hitting percentage as a team on their way to claiming their 13th sweep of the year.

“I thought we worked hard and had a better mentality against a good team today,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “We consistently made adjustments, but IWU continued to be offensively efficient, and their defense didn’t let a ball hit the floor easily.”

HU committed just one service error to the Wildcats’ four. The last time the Foresters committed just one service error in a match dates back to November of 2019 against Mount Vernon.

De’Janea Johnson and Lindsay Ingenito led Huntington offensively eight kills apiece. Morgan Robrock and Maddie Boomershine split setting duties to tally 14 and six assists respectively. Hannah Maier was active along the backline to pick up 18 digs.

“Lindsay was a consistent offensive weapon for us,” noted Herber. “One of my favorite things about her as a player is how she rises to the occasion of a challenging match.

“We now get a few days of needed rest, and I’m excited to see us come back refreshed after fall break.”

The Foresters (12-18, 4-11) are back in action on Wednesday to host #7 Marian at 7:00 p.m.
