WOMEN’S SOCCER
The HU women’s soccer team came up short, 3-1, against Bethel at Morey Field Saturday night under the lights.
After giving up two goals in the first half, the Foresters got one back just minutes after stepping back on the pitch after intermission to keep things interesting. On a well-placed pass by Avery Giguere that split a Bethel defender and Reagan Sanderson, Sanderson found herself in a 1v1 with the keeper and calmly slipped a low ball past her.
It’s the sophomore’s fourth goal of the year, the second straight game she’s put one in the back of the net.
While the Foresters kept pressuring their hosts in search of the equalizer, a late goal by the Pilots solidified the win. The loss drops Huntington to 4-8-3 which includes a 0-6-1 CL record while Bethel improves to 5-11 overall, 4-3 in league play.
“The effort was good tonight, and we were pressing to find the equalizer when they sealed the match with their third goal,” said Coach David Lewis. “We have two important conference games at home this week.”
The Foresters, in the hunt for a spot in the Crossroads League Tournament, close out the regular season by hosting Saint Francis on Wednesday and Goshen on Saturday.
