The Huntington volleyball team (14-20, 5-13) wrapped up their regular season by blanking Goshen, 25-20, 25-22, 25-18, Saturday afternoon at Platt Arena. Not only was it a day to celebrate another win, it was also a day to pay tribute to a pair of seniors in Hannah Maier and Lindsay Ingenito.

Abby Robinson made sure Senior Day honored her upper-class teammates by racking up 17 kills and 13 digs, both of which were match-highs. Ingenito and De’Janea Johnson added seven kills apiece to round out a well-balanced attack that saw the Foresters post 42 kills to their guests’ 23.

Maddie Boomershine organized the offense much of the contest to finish with 27 assists in addition to digging up nine balls.

For the seniors, it was their last game in Platt Arena. “It was a blast getting the sweep today as a gift to our seniors for everything they’ve done for this program the past four years,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “I could not hand select two better leaders for our team. They are great players, but it is the people they are that I’m in awe of.

“It has been an honor to be these seniors’ coach. They were sophomores when I became the head shot, and I’m grateful for how they’ve encouraged me and walked alongside me in this journey. We will truly miss them.”

The win is Huntington’s seventh straight over the Maple Leafs (4-32, 0-18) and their fifth sweep this fall. Even more significantly, the W solidifies the Foresters’ a spot in postseason as the eighth seed in the Crossroads League tournament beginning November 6.
