WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
The Lancers of Grace College (12-7, 3-5) disposed of the Huntington women’s basketball team Saturday afternoon at Platt Arena by a score of 76-43.
Grace was deadly from long range having knocked down ten of their 16 attempts. Just about one-third of their offense was from deep, and it fueled their energy on the way to shooting nearly fifty percent (30-for-61) from the field for the game.
At the other end of the floor, HU struggled to get much going as points have not come easily as of late. While the first quarter proved the Foresters’ lowest output, they gradually improved with each quarter but unfortunately the deficit was too much to overcome.
Defensively, HU forced 17 Lancer blunders while limiting their turnovers to just ten, a season-low. Huntington also tracked down 14 offensive boards which marks the ninth time this season Culler’s crew has logged double-digit rebounds of the offensive variety.
Konnor Gambrell and Ruby Bolon came off the bench to lead Huntington with 11 and nine points respectively. The pair also grabbed five rebounds each while Gambrell finished with three steals.
Grace’s Maddie Ryman topped all scorers with 18 points. Kiersten Poor added 11 points while Karlee Feldman posted eight points and a game-best 14 rebounds.
The Foresters (2-17, 0-8) head to Goshen on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. tip-off with the Maple Leafs.
