WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Despite a solid start, the Forester women’s basketball team fell prey to #4 Marian 80-36 Saturday afternoon at Platt Arena. With this win, MU improves to 23-3 on the year which includes a 15-1 record in league play.

Konnor Gambrell scored HU’s first seven points to ensure her team got off to a great start. Celeste Ryman also had the hot hand with a side-step three and long two near the end of the quarter to send Huntington into the first break up 18-17.

Culler’s crew finished the first stanza by going 8-for-14 (57.1 percent) from the floor while committing just two TOs for one of their most productive quarters of the year. Unfortunately that’s where it ended for the hosts. HU combined for just 18 points the rest of the way to make for the significant score disparity.

Ryman and Gambrell finished with nine points each to pace Huntington while Maddy Robrock came off the bench to add seven. Ryman also posted three steals and two assists. Erica Zook claimed team-high rebounding honors with five.

The Knights were led by Ella Collier with 15. Shanyce Makuei added 12 points off the bench.

Next up for the Foresters (3-21, 1-12) is a home game against Goshen on Wednesday.
