The HU softball team dropped a pair of games, a 4-0 loss to Cleary and 3-2 loss to Lawrence Tech, to wrap up play at the Bear Creek Tournament.

Against Cleary, the Foresters struggled to generate much offense. Ehler’s crew finished with three hits and landed just three runners in scoring position.

Adelyn Harsh, who tossed a complete-game, along with HU’s defense held the Cougars in check through the first three frames before surrendering a run in the fourth and then three more in the sixth. The sophomore hurler was tagged with the loss having given up ten hits, four runs and a walk while striking out two.

Breanna Hines, Courtney Mason and Mackenzie Walker each picked up hit for Huntington.

Game two featured quiet bats early on before both teams found a way to put points on the board. HU struck first in the bottom of the fourth. Harsh got things started with a single through the left side, Abigail Reed smacked a double to right and then a Blue Devil error scored both runs with Kiera Stacy getting credit for two RBI.

Unfortunately, Tech fired back in the fifth by hammering out four hits and taking advantage of an HU throwing error to plate three unearned runs to take a lead. The lead proved permanent as the Foresters threatened in the bottom of the seventh with runners on second and third but couldn’t convert.

HU collected seven hits with Reed posting two. Despite being charged with the loss, Karlee Franklin had a solid outing in the circle. The rookie went the distance without issuing a base on balls. She gave up eight hits and three runs while striking out six in the losing effort.

Huntington (0-3) is back in action on Friday when they travel to Michigan to play #19 Saint Xavier and Madonna.
