SOFTBALL
Up against their second Top 20 team in as many outings, the HU softball team suffered two losses, 11-3, 8-0, to #9 Indiana Wesleyan Tuesday afternoon.
Jenessa Hasty got her team on the board right away when she tripled in Breanna Hines in the first. Unfortunately, it was short-lived as the Wildcats came roaring back to unleash for ten runs in the next frame. The guests tapped into six hits, worked four walks, stole two bases and took advantage of a hit batter and an HU error in the second to make for their big inning.
Huntington would go on to outscore IWU 2-1 the rest of the way, but it was too little too late as the lead proved too monstrous to overcome and was cut short compliments of the run-rule. Breanna Hines and Courtney Mason each logged an RBI single in the second and fifth respectively to account for HU’s final two runs.
Adelyn Harsh took the loss for Ehler’s crew. she tossed the first 1.1 frames and gave up six hits, eight runs and two walks.
The Wildcats (22-4, 7-1) made quick work of the nightcap, holding their hosts scoreless while finding home eight times to call it quits after five. Mason and Harsh were the only two Foresters to hammer out a hit.
Maddie Turner tossed the first four innings to be charged with the loss after giving up six hits, seven runs and four walks while striking out three.
The Foresters (3-16, 1-7) are back in action on Friday to host Goshen at 3:00 p.m.
