Week 2 Writing Center Tips:

Re-read for clarity

  • Once you have completed your paper, you should take a break, then return to your paper and read it aloud. Taking the time to do this will help you catch grammar errors and ensure your sentence structure is clear and concise.

Check for run-on sentences.

  • Run-on sentences are an issue that often plagues students’ papers. If you notice any long sentences while re-reading, you should try to separate them into two or more sentences. Short sentences often pack a stronger punch than long-winded sentences. Short sentences throughout the paper will also aid the flow of your writing, making the paper easier to read overall.
