SOFTBALL

The Forester softball team faced one of the nation’s best in #8 Indiana Wesleyan and the Wildcats proved their ranking worthy with a pair of wins, 9-0, 9-1, over their visitors Saturday afternoon at Sue Bowman Field.

Game one was a quickie. Not only did the hosts enjoy hot sticks, but Alyssa Wagner also effectively shut down HU’s offense by tossing a no-hitter to call it quits after five compliments of the run-rule.

Karlee Franklin didn’t make it out of the first to be charged with the loss having given up five hits, five runs and a walk.

The Foresters got off to a much better start in the nightcap, piecing together three hits including Adelyn Harsh’s RBI-double to take a 1-0 lead right out of the gate. Unfortunately, by the second frame, the Wildcats took the lead and continued building on it until there was an eight-run gap to cut the game an inning short.

HU finished with five hits by five different Foresters.

Maddie Turner tossed the first three frames for the loss after giving up four hits, four runs and three walks while striking out two.

HU (13-26, 11-17) has a big week of games starting with a doubleheader at Saint Francis on Monday.
