MEN’S GOLF

The Crossroads League national office announced its 2022 Men’s Golf All-Conference Teams and among the list of 20 honorees was Huntington senior David Beck.

Beck was one of nine golfers to be tabbed All-Conference Honorable Mention. The Peru native (North Miami HS) paced Coach Connor Dwyer’s squad with a 78.5 18-hole average this year. His resume includes a Top 10 finish and eight Top 25 finishes.

“Being a part of the All-Conference team is something I’ve been working hard for and was a goal of mine this year,” said Beck. “I’d like to thank Coach Dwyer and Coach Sholund for helping me along the way during my four years playing golf for Huntington University.”

Former Coach Rick Sholund has nothing but praise for Beck. “I couldn’t be happier for David. From where his game was as a freshman to Honorable Mention All-Conference this year is a testament to his love of the game and work ethic.

“He worked the hardest during season and in the offseason and set a great example for his teammates on how to improve from year to year. He leaves behind that legacy for his teammates to continue. It is an honor well-deserved.”

First year Coach Connor Dwyer also has nothing but good things to say about Beck this season. “Dave has been one of the hardest workers on the team and his improved dramatically from his freshman to senior year. He has been a strong leader for the University and for the golf program. Dave helped me a lot this year and has always put the team’s needs first.

“I am so proud all his hard work paid off and I was glad I got to coach him on his way out! Dave will do a great job down south and I wish him the best as he starts his career at Riomar Country Club in Vero Beach, Florida.”
