The Huntington track and field program produced four league champions, took home seven All-Conference honors and hit one “A” and two “B” standards at the Crossroads League Championships this week at the Notre Dame Athletic Complex.

Zachary Collins was a two-time CL champion having established himself as the top sprinter of the meet by winning the 100 meters and 200 meters in 10.71 and 21.53 respectively.

Dylan Felger also came up big for HU with a pair of All-Conference honors. In addition to smoking the competition in the 400 meter hurdles by clocking in at 51.73, over three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher, he also teamed up with Reece Gibson, Elijah Chesterman and Aaron Hendryx to finish second in the 4×800 meter relay in 7:37.80.

Not only was the foursome’s time good for a piece of All-Conference hardware, it also set a new school record and automatically qualified them for NAIA Nationals.

After running a leg of the 4×800 on Thursday, Chesterman earned a second All-Conference badge in the 800 meters on Friday by finishing third in 1:52.96. Not only did he hit a B mark, he also moved from sixth to second in the HU history books.

Noah Bise had an impressive showing in jumps as the league champ in triple jump with his mark of 14.23 meters. He also earned points for his team by taking fourth in long jump with a leap of 6.93 meters.

Kyler Bourne set a new PR in pole vault with his launch of 4.25 meters which earned him fifth place. Rounding out the Foresters’ points included the 4×100 meter relay that took fifth in 45.64.

Marian ran away with the men’s title with 173 points followed by Grace (116), Bethel (110.5), Taylor (93), Mount Vernon (86), IWU (83.5), Huntington (67), Saint Francis (45), Goshen (45) and Spring Arbor (26).

On the women’s side, Aanyah Wright earned a spot on the podium by finishing third in hammer with a toss of 45.79 meters to claim her first All-Conference honor.

While Abigail Mays just missed out on an All-Conference accolade in the 800 meters by crossing the line in 2:17.43 for fourth place, her time was a PR and moved her from eighth to fifth in the Forester record books.

Carmen Trier ran an outstanding 10,000 meters to punch her ticket to nationals with a B standard by clocking in at 38:04.47 which is the third fastest time in Huntington history.

Siera Weathers competed in the heptathlon where she finished fourth with 2,630 points. Sydni Ausberry took fifth in the 100 meters with her time of 12.54 while Emily Tedder finished seventh in the 1500 meters in 4:51.72. Also earning points for HU was Amarachi Charles-Okezie in long jump with her leap of 4.78 meters good for eighth place.

The Marian also captured the women’s league title with 211 points followed by IWU (134), Taylor (127), Bethel (116), Grace (100), Saint Francis (55), Spring Arbor (34), Huntington (26), Mount Vernon (23) and Goshen (15).

NAIA Nationals is slate for May 25-27 in Gulf Shores, Ala.
