CROSS COUNTRY

Huntington sophomore Shelby Christman earned the league’s first Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week accolade of the year for her performance at Manchester’s Hokum Karem.

Christman’s first loop of 5:28 was not only her fastest mile of the day but the meet’s fastest among the 15 female pairs. She would go on to run two more sub-six minute miles for an individual time of 17:18.

The Carroll High School product teamed up with Carmen Trier to win the Hokum Karem in 35:32.1 for an average mile time of 5:55.

It’s the fourth CL weekly cross country badge for Christman. In addition to being voted the CL Runner of the Week three times last fall, she was also tabbed the NAIA Runner of the Week for the week of September 13.

Next up for HU is the IWU Twilight Invitational on September 9.
