WOMEN’S SOCCER

The start of league play has the Forester women’s soccer team matching up against some of the top teams in the nation. After facing #2 Spring Arbor on Saturday, HU faced #RV Taylor (9-0-1, 1-0-1) Wednesday afternoon at King Stadium where they came up short, 6-1.

Three of Huntington’s next four matches are against Top 20 teams which includes playing #20 Grace, #10 Indiana Wesleyan and #3 Marian.

On this given night, Lewis’ crew got five shots off while giving up 29 to TU. The guests found back netting twice in the first half and then unleashed for four more in the final 45 minutes to blow the game wide open.

Katie Hooley got her team on the board with less than two minutes remaining when she lasered a shot upper 90 to wrap up the day’s scoring. It’s the rookie’s third goal of the season.

“Taylor played well today – they were very efficient with their soccer basics,” said Coach David Lewis. “We were not at our best as indicated by the result. We began with a depleted lineup and lost three more players during the course of the game. We’ll shake it off and press forward.”

Huntington (2-8-1, 0-2-0) hits the road on Saturday to take on Mount Vernon at 7:00 p.m.
