PL 440: Religion and Scientific Thought

The main issues I will cover in the PL 440–Religion & Scientific Thought course in spring 2023 are the following: What does science tell us about Adam and Eve? What about evolution? Were they actual, historical figures and our ancestors as the Bible teaches us? Or did science actually show that Adam and Eve did not exist and hence their story is only a myth? Also consider your DNA: How far do you think you can trace your genetic ancestry? An Evangelical Christian computational biologist, who is an author of one of our textbooks, will join our class via zoom. You can ask him about his claim that only a tiny fraction of our genetic material can go back to 500 years — not all the way to Adam and Eve! This course will be among the most fascinating courses in your college career; hence, you are invited to take it!
