WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team nabbed their first league result Wednesday night at Bishop John M. D’Arcy Stadium with a 0-0 draw against Saint Francis to earn a point and move to 2-13-2 overall, 0-7-1 in league play.

It’s the Foresters’ third shutout of the season with Ireland Aerni earning the win in frame with three saves. Both teams had three shots on goal with the Cougars recording a slight advantage in overall shots taken at 8-6.

Since 2017, the Foresters have gone 5-0-2 against USF with their most notable victory a 7-1 decision in October of 2018.

“We played well defensively, and Ireland made a nice diving save late in the game,” said Coach David Lewis. “We worked the ball well but struggled in the final third. I liked our effort from start to finish.”

Huntington is on the road at Goshen for their last regular season contest on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
