MEN’S SOCCER

Five Forester men’s soccer players were recognized by the Crossroads League for their outstanding play this season as announced earlier this afternoon.

Senior Higor Barbieri (Campinas, Brazil) was one of six forwards to earn a First Team All-Conference badge. The crafty Brazilian paced HU with 14 goals and two assists for 30 points. He logged seven game-winners as one of Huntington’s key cogs offensively. His resume from this season also included an NAIA and Crossroads League Player of the Week accolade.

Also earning a spot on the First Team was graduate student Tiago Costa (Porto, Portugal). As a midfielder for the Foresters, he racked up eight goals, two of which were game-winners, and handed out two dimes for 23 points this fall.

Another midfielder to be honored by the league was senior Pablo Garcia (Jerez de la Frontera, Spain) who often controlled the center of the park for Lawson and crew and for his efforts was named Honorable Mention All-League. He was HU’s main assist man with ten in addition to finding back netting five times this season for 20 points. Against IWU, Garcia logged a rare hat trick to be tabbed the NAIA and CL Player of the Week for the week of October 17.

Sophomore forward Joao Ratinho (Setubal, Portugal) also received Honorable Mention praises. He came off the bench to post 13 goals two of which  and two assists for 28 points as Huntington’s second leading scorer.

Rounding out the Honorable Mention picks was graduate student Pedro Moreira (Sao Paulo, Brazil). He was one of four keepers to be recognized by the league. His record between the pipes was 13-5-1 which included five clean sheets. He gave up 24 goals (1.39 goals per night) while collecting 100 saves for a .806 save percentage.

As a team, the Foresters finished the year with an overall record of 13-6-1 which included a 5-4-1 record in league play.
