INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

The Forester women’s track and field program swept the first Crossroads League’s weekly indoor honors as announced by the national office earlier today.

Erica Xayarath was tabbed the Women’s Indoor TF Field Athlete of the Week by dominating jumps on Saturday at Indiana Tech’s Strive for Greatness Invitational. Not only did the junior transfer picked up a pair of wins in long jump (5.85 meters) and high jump (1.71 meters), both marks are #1 in the NAIA, A standards and new school records.

Xayarath collected a third A standard in triple jump by finishing second at the meet and third in the HU record books with her mark of 11.62 meters. As a warm-up, the Fort Wayne native ran in the 60 meter prelims where she clocked in at 7.94 which is the second fastest time in program history.

Freshman Addy Wiley won the 3K at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open on Friday, topping a loaded field of DI, DII, DIII and NAIA athletes with her time of 9:24, to be designated the Women’s Indoor TF Track Athlete of the Week. In addition to punching her ticket to NAIA Nationals with an A standard, she also earned the #2 spot in the Huntington record books.

Wiley’s time is currently tops in the NAIA by over 30 seconds.

The Foresters have a break until January 14 when they compete in the Sean Brady Alumni Open at Trine University.
