CROSS COUNTRY
The USTFCCCA announced its 2022 Cross Country NAIA Academic Awards with the HU cross country program well represented.
Five members of the women’s program who competed at nationals earned All-Academic badges. To be selected for this award, student-athletes must carry a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and qualify for the national championship meet. Abby Mays, Amelia Strzechowski, Emily Tedder, Carmen Trier and Addy Wiley were five of 175 female runners from 49 different schools who were honored for their academic prowess.
As a team, the HU women’s squad posted a collective 3.64 GPA and for their efforts were tabbed an All-Academic Team by the USTFCCCA. The Foresters were one of 70 teams to garner this distinction.
Three members of the men’s crew who competed at nationals were designated All-Academic Athletes. Matthew Hyter, Austin Liepe and Kent Yoder were three of 116 men representing 43 institutions who were recognized for their success in the classroom.
As a squad, the Forester men were also named an All-Academic Team based on their collective GPA of 3.27. In all, 60 teams earned this praise for having a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
