INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

Competing on one of the biggest platforms of her career, freshman Addy Wiley will represent Huntington University this weekend at the USATF Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. The rookie star will toe the line of the 1500 meters having qualified by winning the mile in 4:32.15 at the Camel City Invitational two weeks ago.

As the only collegiate athlete in the event, Wiley will run against 11 professional athletes as the ninth seed. Her qualifying time is eight seconds behind top-seeded Nikki Hiltz.

“Our team is very excited to watch and support Addy compete at the USA Indoor Nationals this weekend,” said Coach Austin Roark. “It will be incredible to see Addy and Huntington University Track and Field represented on one of the biggest stages of track and field this weekend.

“Also, to have the NAIA represented against some of the best athletes in the country is an exciting thing. Addy deserves this, as evidenced by her incredible desire to compete and win, and will be a great catalyst for her as she prepares for NAIA Nationals and the pursuit of a team championship.”

Associate Head Coach Josh Neideck is also thrilled for Wiley. “We are excited to see what Addy can do this weekend. She obviously has been given a great gift, one that has allowed her to compete at the top level in our country.

“In the brief time I have gotten to know her, I’ve noticed her work ethic is unlike anyone I have ever seen. She deserves this race and we are stoked to have her toe the line. Her team is also behind her and excited to be represented at the indoor championships.”

Wiley will run Saturday at 2:58 p.m. MST (4:58 p.m. ET) at the Albuquerque Convention Center. NBC will be covering the USATF Indoor Championships with general coverage for the meet starting at 4:00 p.m. ET.
