Junior Erica Xayarath highlighted day two of the NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships by recording HU’s first All-American badge of the meet.
Xayarath outjumped her No. 5 seeding to claim fourth in long jump with a mark of 5.70 meters.
Freshman Addy Wiley had a busy day qualifying for the finals in the four events she ran in. Seeded No. 1 in each race, the Huntington native will toe the line tomorrow for the mile (12:25 p.m.), 600 (1:25 p.m.), 800 (2:10 p.m.) and 3000 (2:45 p.m.). She will then wrap things up by running a leg of the DMR at 4:20 p.m.
Senior Dylan Felger punched his ticket to the finals in the 600 meters by finishing fourth in the prelims this afternoon. The finals are slated for 1:35 p.m. tomorrow.
Other Huntington performances this afternoon included Reece Gibson (#12 seed) in the mile (15th, 4:19.66), Emily Tedder (#15 seed) in the mile (12th, 5:08.41), Destiny Copeland (#4 seed) in long jump (21st, 5.41 meters) and Zach Collins (#33 seed) in the 200 (15th, 21.59*PR).
HU will be represented in nine events tomorrow at the Sanford Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.
