MEN’S GOLF

The Huntington men’s golf team took a partial squad to the Trine-hosted Ken Venturi Invitational Wednesday afternoon at Zollner Golf Course. The JV Forester squad posted a 324 at the 18-hole even to finish tied for 16th out of 19 teams.

Mitchell Wilson paced HU with a two-over-par 73 to finish 19th out of 110 golfers. Kaleb Ketchum turned in a 76 to place 37th. Cooper Trigg carded a 77 for the 46th spot. Brayden Cable was next for the Foresters with an 84 for 87th place.

Austin Batey (86) and Trey Spring (87) shot within a stroke of each other while Adam Waters carded a 91 to round out Huntington’s scores.

“This was a really good experience for the new guys,” said Coach Connor Dwyer. “They played well for the fact it was their first tournament but also learned what they need to work on.”

Next up for Dwyer and crew is the Cardinal Classic on September 18-19 in Michigan.
