VOLLEYBALL
The No. 3 Wildcats of Indiana Wesleyan are wreaking havoc this season and continued their tear Wednesday night in Platt Arena by making quick work of the HU volleyball team, 25-12, 25-11, 25-20.
It was business as usual for IWU as 17 of their 19 wins have been sweeps. The national powerhouse has given up a mere two sets so far this season as they move to 19-0 which includes an 11-0 record in CL action.
While there wasn’t too much to write home about through the first two sets, the hosts rallied to give the Wildcats a run for their money in set three. After opening up a 3-0 lead, HU kept things close, which included forcing a 15-15 tie, before Wesleyan closed out on a 10-5 run to wrap up the victory.
Haley Kruse paced Huntington with 11 kills. Maisyn Robrock and Leah Carter each finished with six. Morgan Robrock took charge of the offense by doling out 28 assists. Layla Meyer led her team defensively with 12 digs.
“Tonight after the match we talked about how every match, every practice, every workout, every film session and every small group is a part of the process that prepares us to compete and win,” said Coach Kelsey Herber. “I don’t think we embraced that tonight, which is disappointing.
“However, the beauty is that we can make an intentional decision to allow that to be the case moving forward.”
Huntington (13-9, 4-7) has the weekend off before heading to Marian on Wednesday for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with the Knights.
