Chief Keirsh’s Safety Tip

A couple of reminders: Campus safety is a community effort. HUPD is always available, but we cannot be everywhere all of the time. Many studies have confirmed students, faculty, and staff are really the first level of campus safety. Therefore, please remember to lock your vehicles while they are parked in the lots. Additionally, please call campus police or 911 IMMEDIATELY in the event of a suspicious person or event. Do not go to social media first. Go to the police first! Your call could stop something before it happens. Finally, our community needs to feel safe for all. Therefore, limit your engagement in rumors and gossip regarding campus safety or sensitive matters. It only fuels an unsettled feeling, and the vast majority of information is untrue. Please reach out to Chief Cochran if you have questions or concerns regarding campus safety. We are consistently one of the safest campuses in America, and that is all because of you! If there are any legitimate threats to campus, you will be notified!
