MEN’S BASKETBALL

Graduate student Zach Goodline made program history in Huntington’s 112-72 win over Calumet. With 2:43 to go in the first half, the 6-1 point guard scored his 2000th career point in green and white on one of his signature moves, a floater in the lane. He is just the eighth Forester in school history to hit the 2K mark.

While Goodline joins an elite group of prolific scorers in program history, he stands alone as the only Forester to have ever reached 2,000 points and 500 assists. He notched his 500th assist against Carroll on December 16. To date, he has racked up 2,013 career points and 517 career assists.

While it took Goodline and crew a bit to get rolling against the Crimson Wave, Lane Sparks knocked down a three from the wing six minutes in to give HU its first and lasting lead of the day at 12-11. While Calumet hung around for the rest of the frame for a 12-point difference of 47-35 by intermission, Landen Jordan set the stage for a second half blowout.

The 6-9 forward scored the hosts’ first 11 points of the second half on the way to HU opening up a twenty- point lead of 63-43 by the 15:26 mark. It was a 30-point ballgame four minutes later and the chasm only continued to widen by game’s end.

Today marked the fourth time Alford and crew have hit the century mark this season. Today’s lopsided affair also marks HU’s fifth straight victory as they improve to 8-5.

Goodline finished with a game-best 22 points to go along with eight assists, five rebounds and two steals. Jordan added 19 points and corralled a game-leading eight rebounds. Sparks finished with 18 points and seven boards while Gage McGuire and Mitchell Wilson chipped in 13 and 12 points respectively off the bench.

Colby Wiggins tossed in 18 points to pace Calumet. Oshawn Lee scored 17 points while Quindarius Davis came off the bench to add eight points and a team-best six rebounds.

The Foresters jump back into conference play on January 3 with a trip to Mount Vernon.
