MEN’S BASKETBALL

The Huntington men’s basketball team took care of business Wednesday night at Odle Arena by handing the Trojans of Taylor University a 92-66 loss. It was a game never in question with every Forester seeing action.

HU led from start to finish with their first double-digit lead of 20-10 coming seven minutes in compliments of a Drew Goodline long ball. It was the beginning of the end as the Foresters limited their hosts to just 23 first half points while getting halfway to the century mark by intermission for a 50-23 disparity.

While the Trojans spent the second half outscoring their guests by one, the damage was already done as HU cruised to their seventh win this season of at least 25 points. The win is also Huntington’s third straight over the Trojans as Alford and crew move to 12-6 on the season, 5-3 in league play.

The Foresters shot 51.5 percent on the night (35-for-68) which included going 12-for-27 (44.4 percent) from long range. Lane Sparks (21), Zach Goodline (19) and Landen Jordan (17) carried HU’s scoring load. Jordan also corralled nine rebounds to just miss out on a double double while Goodline handed out six assists in the winning effort.

Anton Webb finished with a double double of ten points and 14 rebounds for Taylor. Kaden Fuhrmann tallied 18 points while Jackson Ullom tossed in 17. The loss drops TU to 7-11 which includes a 2-6 CL record.

HU hosts Goshen on Saturday at 3:00 p.m. to wrap up first round action of league play.
