INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Coach Austin Roark took a partial squad to the IWU Midwest Classic over the weekend with the women’s distance medley relay team highlighting the Huntington indoor track and field program’s performances.
Malarie Pinwar, Mackenzie Brewer, Emily Tedder and Trysta Hilton teamed up to not only win the relay, but their time of 12:32.12 proved an automatic qualifying time for NAIA Nationals at the end of the month.
Brooklyn Simmons hit the provisional mark in triple jump with her hop, step and jump of 11.31 meters. She finished second at the meet and her mark moves her from fifth to fourth in the HU record books. Josey Reineman also brought home a second place finish with her leap of 1.65 meters in high jump.
On the men’s side, Jonah Lemmon, Austin Liepe, Reece Gibson and Grady Martin joined up to finish second in the DMR in 10:24.58. Scott Parrish found his way into the Forester history books by sliding into the ninth spot in pole vault with his mark of 4.20 meters.
Next up is the Swine Open on February 9 in Indianapolis.
