MEN’S SOCCER

The HU men’s soccer team went toe-to-toe against one of the nation’s best in No. 9 Indiana Tech Wednesday evening at Warrior Athletic Field. The neighborly brawl saw the hosts slip past the Foresters 1-0 by finding back netting early in the second half.

The opening 45 minutes was a draw as both squads leveraged for any sort of advantage only to head into intermission with zeros on the scoreboard. Neither defense gave up much in the first half with the Warriors getting off six shots to Huntington’s three.

Tech’s Tramaine Lawson scored less than five minutes into the second period. It was his first goal of the season and proved the game’s only goal. His game-winner was one of eight shots the Warriors fired off in the frame while Coach Potter’s crew posted six in the half to finish with nine total, three of which were on target.

It’s the first time this season the Foresters, who came into the night averaging three goals per outing, have been held scoreless.

Dan Pellegrine collected seven saves in the losing effort in goal. The Foresters (3-2-1) have a week off before heading to Chicago to face Saint Xavier on Wednesday at 8:00 p.m.
