MEN’S SOCCER
Sophomore Sam Dolobaipu’s hat trick spurred the Huntington men’s soccer team to a dominating 5-1 win over #RV Trinity Christian Wednesday evening at King Stadium.
The statement win sets up the Foresters perfectly as they head into league play next week with a 6-2-1 record.
HU’s first goal was a left-footed banger by Cooper Foshee at the 17:00-minute mark after which it became the Dolobaipu show. His first goal was hands down the prettiest of them all thanks to a textbook pass from Joao Ratinho that the 6-3 forward ran onto and then with some nifty footwork was able to slot the keeper.
Dolobaipu’s next two goals were within five minutes of each other. His second time finding back netting came ten minutes into the second half on a feed from Alberto Guerrero Gonzalez after a scramble in the box. He teamed up with Ratinho a second time to complete the hat trick, this time outmuscling his defender to send one side netting. He currently ranks second among his league peers in goals scored with eight.
The Foresters never took their foot off the gas with Scemar Webb putting the exclamation point on the game when he scored with three seconds remaining. It countered the Trolls’ only goal seven minutes earlier.
Abraham Abdoul Kadri assisted Foshee and Webb’s goals. For both, it was their first goal in Forester green. When it came to shots taken, the hosts were superior 15-6 with 11 on frame to TCC’s three. Dan Pellegrine spent 70 minutes in goal, before being relieved by Kyle Berg, to earn the win in net. He finished with two saves.
Huntington has a weeklong break before hosting Goshen on Wednesday of next week at 7:00 p.m.
