WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Marian University came into Platt Arena on Wednesday ranked #25 in the country and swept the Foresters (25-10, 26-24, 25-9).

In the opening set, the Knights (18-6, 9-5) raced out to a 16-5 advantage before the Foresters settled in. The Foresters played their best volleyball in the second set with contributions from up and down the roster. Makailah Thompson and Nigella Reck combined to dish out 11 assists to eight different Foresters in the second set. Marian would score six of the last eight points of the set to steal the win in a hard-fought battle. The third set was all Marian on their way to a 25-9 set win to secure the sweep.

Haley Kruse and Maisyn Robrock each registered five kills, while Lauryn Hardy chipped in four kills. Reck assisted on 13 Forester kills while Thompson handed out eight assists. Defensively, Layla Meyer came up with 20 digs, and Olivia Krahn had 10.

The Foresters (13-13, 5-9) will return to Platt Arena on Saturday when they host the 7th-ranked Indiana Wesleyan Wildcats. The defending national champs have won 21 straight and sit alone atop the Crossroads League at 14-0. The first serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
