WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

The Huntington University women’s volleyball team finished the regular season on Wednesday with a four-set win over Spring Arbor University (25-21 ,25-20, 21-25, 25-22). The Foresters will be the sixth seed in the Crossroads tournament and travel to Marian to take on the third seed Knights on Saturday at 7:00 p.m.

The Foresters welcomed back setter Lauren Ross, who had missed the previous five matches due to injury. The sophomore setter made an instant impact on the court as she dished out 39 assists, while recording seven kills and 14 digs.

“It was so nice to have Lauren Ross back in the game running our offense. I was proud of our defensive effort and competitor’s mentality to finish the fourth set in thrilling fashion,” said sixth year head coach Kelsey Herber. “We are united and eager for our conference tournament to begin on Saturday.”

Junior middle attacker Leah Carter set a new career best 13 kills with a .520 kill percentage. Trevyn Terry had 10 kills to exert HU’s dominance at the middle of the net. Defensively, Terry had five solo blocks and assisted on another. Carter had two solo blocks and assisted on three more. The duo combined to deny 11 Spring Arbor (12-15, 6-12) attack attempts. Leyla Meyer was in position for 23 digs, while Olivia Krahn ran the backline for 19 digs.

The Foresters ended the regular season with an overall record of 15-15, while their 7-11 record in conference play was good for a sixth-place finish in the final Crossroads League standings.
