WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Senior libero Layla Meyer has been named the Crossroads League Defender of the Week after a standout performance that anchored Huntington’s defense in five matches last week.
Meyer was a force on the backline for the Foresters, piling up 109 digs across five contests to help HU to a 4-1 record. Averaging 6.1 digs per set, the 5-3 senior reached the 20-dig mark in three matches and delivered a season-best 30 digs in a four-set victory over St. Francis (Ill.).
Meyer’s performance pushed her into fifth place on Huntington’s all-time digs list, reaching 1,647 for her career over the weekend.
A key leader in Huntington’s hot 9-1 start to the season, Meyer will look to build on this momentum as the Foresters open Crossroads League play on Wednesday, hosting Saint Francis at 7:00 p.m. inside Platt Arena.
