WOMEN’S SOCCER

The Huntington women’s soccer team extended its win streak to three with a gritty 1-0 victory at Anderson Saturday afternoon at Fridley Field. With the result, the Foresters improve to 3-1 on the season while maintaining their unbeaten record against the Ravens since the series began in 2022 (2-0-2).

HU generated steady pressure throughout the match, firing off 13 shots—11 of which were on goal. The breakthrough came in the 66th minute when Sophie Shepherd intercepted an errant Anderson pass in the box and rifled a shot to the far post for the game’s lone tally. In goal, Macie Sanders turned in a stellar performance, recording eight saves to secure the clean sheet.

Head coach Keaton Albert praised his team’s resilience: “This was a momentous game to win today. Each player stepped up and did her job. The team’s character to edge out the win after creating many opportunities was impressive to witness. We are still growing each day. Our focus is to rest, recover and be prepared for Tuesday’s match.”

The Foresters will be back in action Tuesday when they travel to IU Kokomo for a 7:00 p.m. kickoff.
