WOMEN’S TENNIS

The HU women’s tennis team put together a strong showing at the annual ITA Regionals hosted at Indiana Wesleyan’s Sutter Tennis Center, a four-day event that wrapped up Saturday.

Unseeded Forester Ashley Bucur highlighted HU’s singles play with a deep run through the 64-player main draw. Bucur advanced to the quarterfinals before being stopped by Marian’s third-seeded Yasmin Imamniyazova.

In doubles action, the Foresters’ top-performing tandem of Addison Mast and Yariange Bello, seeded fourth, lived up to expectations. The pair powered their way into the semifinals, where they ultimately bowed out to the top-seeded IWU duo.

HU will return to the courts this Saturday with a road trip to Hanover as they continue their fall slate.
