WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Huntington University libero Layla Meyer has been named the Crossroads League Defender of the Week after a stellar performance that anchored the Foresters’ back row in three wins last week. It marks the second time this season Meyer has earned the league’s weekly defensive honor, with her first recognition coming the week of September 1.
The senior standout averaged 5.6 digs per set across a trio of Huntington victories, helping the (RV) Foresters improve to 18-4 on the year. Her defensive effort was highlighted by a 30-dig performance in HU’s five-set thriller over (RV) Spring Arbor—a match that extended to 22-20 in the deciding frame.
Meyer wrapped up the week with 62 total digs, continuing her climb up the program record book. She currently sits fourth all-time in Forester history with 1,881 career digs and has been the defensive cornerstone for a team that continues to make waves in the Crossroads League.
The Foresters open the second round of league play on Wednesday, hitting the road for a short trip to Saint Francis. First serve against the Cougars is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
